The Daily Meal

Parkhurst Dining at Duquesne University was selected as one of the top schools in the United States for great food by The Daily Meal.

Located in Downtown Pittsburgh, Duquesne is home to nearly 10,000 well-fed students. Soups and sauces are made fresh daily, and even the pizza dough and fries are scratch-made. Every dining location highlights seasonal offerings and has rotating menus based on what’s freshly available, and at least two food-focused events are held per week.

2015 Governor's Award
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation

Parkhurst Dining at Saint Francis University was selected as the recipient of the Annual Governors Award for hiring, retaining and advancing the careers of individuals who are in need of work skills support.  The selection committee ranked Parkhurst at Saint Francis as among the highest of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation’s top nominations considered for this year’s award.

2014 Best Concept Award
Food Management Magazine

Food Management Magazine presented Bayer Corp. and Parkhurst Dining with the 2014 Best Concept Award in the Special Events Category.

As Bayer marked the company’s 150th anniversary of its founding, the company held an Employee Celebration Day luncheon for all 110,000 global employees on June 18, 2013, serving one international upscale menu to every employee on the same day.

The anniversary menu was created using the expertise of five global Bayer Celebration Chefs, including Parkhurst Dining's Jeff Sinciline, executive chef at Bayer's Pittsburgh corporate dining facility.  Chef Sinciline created two celebration menu items: couscous salad with cinnamon almonds and mint-kissed strawberry lemonade.


2014 Gold Plate Award
International Foodservice Manufacturers Association

The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) presented Jim Broadhurst, Chairman of Eat'n Park Hospitality Group, as a winner of the 2014 Gold Plate in the Chain Full Service category.  Often called "The Academy Awards of Foodservice," the Gold & Silver Plate Awards have been considered one of the industry's most prestigious honors since their creation in 1954.

Mr. Broadhurst was applauded for being instrumental in launching Parkhurst Dining.

2013 Lycoming County Employer of the Year
Hope Enterprises

The Parkhurst Dining team at Lycoming College was awarded the Lycoming County Employer of the Year for Community Services by Hope Enterprises in “recognition of the extraordinary support shown to Hope by employing individuals with disabilities.”

2012 Chef of the Year

"Chef of the Year", the most prestigious award a culinary professional can receive from The American Culinary Federation (ACF), Inc., Laurel Highlands Chapter (Youngwood, PA), was presented to Tim Fetter, executive chef for Parkhurst at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.

2011 Achievement of Excellence Award

Eat’n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst is a member) is one of 23 food service establishments nationwide that received the American Culinary Federation 2011 Achievement of Excellence Award, which recognizes food service establishments that exemplify a commitment to excellence. The American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), a professional, organization for chefs and cooks, was founded in 1929 in New York City by three chefs’ organizations: the Société Culinaire Philanthropique, the Vatel Club, and the Chefs de Cuisine Association of America. Since our inception, little has changed in our principal goals. We are an organization based on promoting the professional image of American chefs worldwide through education of culinarians at all levels.

2010 People Do Matter Award, Areas of Learning and Development
Pittsburgh Human Resources Association

Eat'n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst is a member) received the 2010 People Do Matter Award. Presented by the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association, the People Do Matter Award recognizes regional employers that are implementing exceptional people practices. Eat’n Park received their award in the “Learning and Development” category for the Supervisor Certification Program, a leadership experience that has graduated over 200 hourly team members. A collaborative effort between operations and training, Eat’n Park’s corporate training team and field and site managers work together to help mentor, coach and evaluate the supervisor’s assignments and progress. Supervisors participate in over 25 hours of training and are required to pass a certification exam. Supervisors who have graduated from the program help to support and strengthen their unit management teams, uphold their standards, and enhance their guests’ experiences.

2009 American Business Ethics Award for Demonstrating Leadership and Ethics Around Sustainability Issues
Foundation for Financial Service Professionals

Eat’n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst is a member) was awarded the 2009 American Business Ethics Award (ABEA) in the large company category (more than 2,500 employees) for demonstrating leadership and ethics around sustainability issues, according to the Foundation for Financial Service Professionals (FSP), which sponsors the annual ABEA program. ABEA recognizes companies that exemplify high standards of ethical behavior in their everyday business conduct and/or in response to a specific ethical crisis or challenges. Entries are judged by a distinguished, independent panel of professionals who represent the business, academic, public service, and consulting communities.

2009 Glynwood Harvest Award, for Connecting Communities, Farmers and Food

Eat’n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst is a member) was honored with the 2009 Harvest Award. This award was created by Glynwood, the not-for-profit organization whose mission is to save farming in the North East, in order to highlight innovative work being done to increase access to fresh, locally-produced food and to recognize leaders across the country that support regional agricultural systems.
