Parkhurst Partners with UArts Students to Create Unique Food Photography
Casey Meyers, a photography student who just graduated from The University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, earned her first professional opportunity for creating the “Chef’s Palette,” which best exemplifies Parkhurst Dining’s mantra – Authentic Culinary Experiences.
Parkhurst, the dining services partner of UArts, was approached by the university to collaborate on a project with students who sought to create photos that combined fine art with fresh food.
“As a food service provider focused on higher education, we often engage our students by educating them on the process of partnering with local farms and producers, while creating house-made food that promotes health and overall wellness. The photography class students worked hard to execute and create food art that best represents our made-from-scratch philosophy,” said Al Marter, Parkhurst general manager for UArts.
Along with Marter, John Hallman, Parkhurst district manager, and members of Parkhurst’s marketing team, worked with students on their expectations and had the difficult task of selecting one photograph as the grand winner.
“Chef’s Palette” will be showcased in the UArts café for all to enjoy, plus Casey was presented with a $100 Visa gift card. Parkhurst management also presented $25 VISA gift cards to each student who participated, recognizing all for their outstanding efforts including: Jacob Brewer, Bridget Carhart, Jessica Lim, Anna Ladd and Stephanie DeFeo.
