Parkhurst Unveils First Employee Cafe at Rice Energy's New Corporate Headquarters

Rice Energy Inc. not only has a new home but an authentic culinary experience thanks to Parkhurst Dining! A grand opening celebration recently unveiled the company’s first employee cafe “Shale Shack," where more than 335 employees now enjoy a menu of fresh and locally grown food prepared using authentic methods at its new Southpoint II corporate headquarters in Canonsburg, PA.

Parkhurst Executive Chef Albert (Albe) Rhodes and his culinary team are happy to work in partnership with Rice Energy to foster a culture that places a premium on culinary excellence offering breakfast, lunch, on-the-go and catering services!

A fresh, made-from-scratch dining experience encourages healthier eating, a culinary gold standard for which Parkhurst is known for and delivers upon that promise each and every day.

Employees can select from a creative mix of nutritionally balanced entrees prepared with vegetables, lean proteins and healthier grains. The rotisserie is a centerpiece, offering a variety of meats prepared as an entrée or as a deli sandwich featured every day of the workweek. Select from an herb rubbed lamb gyro, fresh hams, prime rib, roasted pork, roast beef, chickens and porchetta.

Fresh composed salads, along with an extensive salad bar featuring soups made from homemade stock, plus on-the-go items prepared daily, round out the selections at the Shale Shack!

Menu items are naturally flavorful using local agriculture sourced from FarmSource, Parkhurst’s sustainable sourcing program which procures locally grown and seasonal food from more than 250 local farmers and producers, all within a 150-mile radius of its dining locations!

An outdoor dining space also encourages Rice Energy employees to get out and enjoy the fresh air as Chef Albe prepares foods cooked-to-order el fresco!

According to Amanda Gartner, Parkhurst district manager, we offer everything from comfort foods to culturally diverse menu items for dine in or on-the-go service!
