Sept. 13—In a move designed to promote student-athlete welfare and enhance the student-athlete experience, the athletics department at Chatham University, in Pittsburgh, and Parkhurst Dining, which manages foodservice at the university, have come together to launch the Student-Athlete Nutritional Gameplan.
The Nutritional Gameplan is designed to assist student-athletes with making healthy nutritional choices each time they visit one of Chatham's three dining facilities. The program logo of a purple Cougar head—the university's mascot—denotes the plan's menu items. Menu options that qualify for the Nutritional Gameplan vary with each meal and are selected with the caloric, physiological and exertion replacement needs of student-athletes in mind.
"Parkhurst is really excited to be part of the Nutritional Gameplan at Chatham University,² said General Manager Leslie Ekstrand. "While providing healthy options for student-athletes, we are also seeing other students make better choices. The simplicity of using our new brand logo on our daily menus makes it a easy for everyone to know what is on the Gameplan for that meal."
