Developing a New Experience for Our Guests
Delivering new flavor experiences designed to meet the wants and needs of our guests is an essential role for our Culinary Leadership Team, a group of chefs and culinary experts who shape Parkhurst’s menus, food programs, and dining standards while balancing innovation, consistency, and guest experience across every location.
When our Culinary Leadership Team discovered that guests were craving more bold yet familiar Asian-inspired cuisine, our chefs went to work to revitalize a fast-casual concept blending vibrant Asian-inspired flavors with familiar favorites. The result was Wok, an enhanced retail dining brand designed especially for guests by our chefs.
Executive Chef Morgan Olson expressed, “Parkhurst Dining trusts chefs to think and cook like chefs, even at scale — that autonomy pushes you to be intentional about flavor, technique, and execution.” He continued, “It’s helped me grow by forcing me to balance creativity with discipline, and passion with consistency.”
Wok is the culmination of such chef-driven creativity and passion for flavor paired with consistency and execution of technique.
Creating a Craveable Experience that is Adventurous and Approachable
The Wok experience is just that, an experience. It starts with a vibrant menu built around crave-ability and choice. The menu features fresh and locally sourced ingredients, bold sauces, and made-from-scratch recipes with a modern twist, including General Tso’s chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, and teriyaki beef with favorite appetizers. This delicious fusion of flavors welcomes both curious foodies and other guests who want something more familiar in a fast-casual format.
Once the menu is in place, the overall experience can take shape. For Wok, that experience centers around a made-to-order station, where each dish is freshly prepared in front of the guest and can be fully customized to their individual tastes and preferences. Knowing that our guests were looking for globally inspired Asian cuisine with a feeling that is ultimately familiar, comfort and approachability were key. We relied on these guest-defined desires and preferences to develop the perfect blend of comfort-meets-adventure for Wok.
