As a people-first company, Parkhurst Dining believes hospitality goes far beyond the table. Just as we are passionate about food, we also care about people.
During this season of giving, we’d like to highlight an intersection of these two passions: our annual Day of Smiles event.
What is Day of Smiles?
Dating back to 2015, Day of Smiles is our annual tradition where our team members spend a day volunteering with nonprofits in the communities we serve. It takes place every summer and is just one of many volunteer events Parkhurst Dining participates in throughout the year.
This year alone in our Pittsburgh region, more than 100 Parkhurst Dining team members volunteered more than 325 hours at eight nonprofits. From lending a hand at a food bank to putting together school supply backpacks for area children, we’re proud to share our time and talents to strengthen the communities we call home.
“Caring for the communities in which we live and work is a cornerstone of our culture at Parkhurst Dining,” said Suzie Lachut, Vice President of Partnership Development and Marketing. “A great example of that is our annual Day of Smiles volunteer action that harnesses our people power to do good for our neighbors. The energy and compassion our team members exhibit brighten the lives of those we help and strengthen our own bonds as a company. It’s a reminder of how we all can positively impact each other.”
In addition to volunteer events like Day of Smiles, Parkhurst Dining also works with food banks and the United Way throughout the year as trusted partners. Our team members have raised nearly $200,000 for United Way agencies across our region, and in 2024, we supported more than 30 food banks across our footprint.
At Parkhurst Dining, the season of giving is a year-round season.
